Our Story
At Root & Press, we believe that the best moments in life happen over a great cup of coffee, a shared meal, and a good story.
We set out to create a space that felt like an extension of your own living room—a place where you could get lost in a novel, catch up with an old friend, or finally finish that work project. What started as a dream has grown into two unique locations, each serving the local community with the same dedication to quality, inclusivity, and warmth.

Shrewsbury Street Bookstore Cafe
In Worcester, Root & Press has become a cornerstone of the community. As one of the city’s premier independent bookstores, we pride ourselves on a thoughtfully curated selection of books for every reader, from bestsellers to local author spotlights
Hours: Daily 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Kitchen closes at 4:00 PM)
Auburn (The Workspace Cafe)
Our Auburn location is a satellite space designed for those who work—whether that’s on cars, remotely from home, or constantly on the go. Tucked inside Lundgren Honda, with on-site seating, a conference room, and a kids’ room, it’s a flexible, welcoming place to read, work, meet, and refuel.
Hours: Daily 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM
